Low Vision Assistance at Hancher Performances
To determine if you would qualify for and benefit from the low vision assistive devices available at Hancher, review the following questions. These questions will help you to determine which device you should request for the performances you will be attending.
Do you have a visual impairment? Or, have you experienced a loss of vision in your better seeing eye?
If yes, are you having difficulties seeing the performances at Hancher?
If yes, have you tried binoculars to see if they allow you to see the performances easier?
If no, we would suggest that you first try our 8x21 binoculars.
If yes, you have tried binoculars in the past, did that work well for you?
If yes, do the binoculars still work well?
If yes, we would suggest that you continue to use your binoculars.
If the binoculars help, but your arms get tired holding the binoculars, we would suggest that you try a set of 4x Beecher telescopes. These are telescopic glasses that you can wear. If 4x Beecher telescopes are not strong enough, we would then have you try 7x Beecher telescopes.
If binoculars are no longer helping, we would suggest that you try a Jordy. Jordy is a head mounted video magnification device that allows the user to zoom in and out while viewing the performance.
These devices are available, free of charge, for use during performances at Hancher. For additional information, call 319-335-1158.
