About the Artists
Alex Ellis (Millie Dillmount) is a recent graduate from Elon University, with a B.F.A. in Musical Theater. While at Elon, some of Alex's favorite roles included: Jekyll and Hyde (Lucy), A Little Night Music (Petra). Professional credits include: Footloose (Rusty), Oklahoma! (Ado Annie), Into the Woods (Little Red), A Chorus Line (Bebe), and Chicago (Mona). She would like to thank Cathy (my buddy!) and Dave for their guidance and support, as well as her friends and family for believing in her dream. This one's for mom!

Joey McKneely (Director/Choreographer) This marks his fourth production for Troika including: Annie Get Your Gun, Crazy For You, and Smokey Joe's Cafe. He made his directorial debut with West Side Story at La Scala Opera House. His other productions of West Side Story have played Germany, Japan, China and all of South East Asia. Off-Broadway: Showtune. On Broadway, Joey made his choreographic debut with Smokey Joe's Cafe (Tony Award nominee, LA Ovation Award), The Life (Tony Award nominee, Outer Critics Circle nominee), The Boy From Oz staring Hugh Jackman (Outer Critics Circle nominee), Twelfth Night, and The Wild Party. Other theatre credits: Whistle Down The Wind, A Wonderful Life, Time of Your Life, Jolson: The Musical, Making Tracks and Pippin. Films: Zoolander, I.Q. He was also in the original Broadway casts of Starlight Express, Roza, Carrie, She Loves Me (Revival), and Jerome Robbins' Broadway.
Dick Scanlan (Book and Lyrics) was nominated for two Tony Awards (Best Book and Best Score), two Drama Desk Awards and a Grammy Award for his work on Thoroughly Modern Millie, the 2002 Tony Award and Drama Desk award-winner for Best Musical. Along with Jeanine Tesori, he was commissioned to compose a song for Broadway sensation Kristin Chenoweth in connection with Let Yourself Go, her debut album on Sony. That song, "The Girl in 14G," has been performed on television and in concert halls across America, as well as having been a critics favorite during Ms. Chenoweth's sold-out run at London's Donmar Warehouse. Mr. Scanlan and Ms. Tesori also wrote the theme song to Ms. Chenoweth's NBC/Paramount sitcom, "Kristin." In addition to his work for the theatre, Mr. Scanlan is the author of the novel Does Freddy Dance. His essays and articles on the arts have appeared in The New York Times, The New Yorker, Vanity Fair, The Village Voice, Playboy, Time Out New York and other magazines. A former actor, Mr. Scanlan originated the role of Miss Great Plains in the hit off-Broadway musical, Pageant.
Jeanine Tesori (New Music, Vocal Arranger) wrote the score for Thoroughly Modern Millie, which won the 2002 Tony and Drama Desk Awards for Best Musical, and earned her a Tony and Grammy nomination. Ms. Tesori was nominated for a Tony Award and won the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Music for Caroline, or Change, (book by Tony Kushner and directed by George C. Wolfe). She also scored Nicholas Hytner's production of Twelfth Night at Lincoln Center Theatre, for which she received a 1999 Drama Desk Award and her first Tony nomination. Ms. Tesori won wide acclaim for Violet, produced at Playwrights Horizons. Violet was named Best Musical by the N.Y. Drama Critics Circle and the Lucille Lortel Awards, and Ms. Tesori received an Obie Award for her music. For film, Ms. Tesori has written the score for Mulan II and contributed songs to Lilo and Stitch II, both due out from Disney next year. Ms. Tesori was commissioned by Sony Classical to write "The Girl in 14G" for Kristin Chenoweth's debut CD, Let Yourself Go, and she also wrote the theme song to Ms. Chenoweth's NBC/Paramount sitcom, "Kristin." She has collaborated with lyricists Dick Scanlan, Brian Crawley and Alexa Junge. Ms. Tesori is married to music director Michael Rafter, and they are the proud parents of Siena Rafter.
Lori Werner (Assistant Director/Choreographer) is most known for her work in videos and world concert tours as the female lead dancer with Prince, Michael Jackson and Ricky Martin. She has also appeared in the original Broadway productions of Jerome Robbins' Broadway and Forum. She began her collaboration with Mr. McKneely as assistant choreographer of Smokey Joe's Cafe and continued as assistant director/choreographer in productions of West Side Story at La Scala Opera and Tokyo's Ohyama Theatre. Ms. Werner has worked extensively in television with credits such as an ABC Development Deal and collaborations with director/choreographers Vince Paterson and Jamie King. You have seen her work on such shows as the "Academy Awards," "Saturday Night Live," and the "Oprah Winfrey Show." Thanks and appreciation to Mr. McKneely, Cast, and "The Team."
Richard Henry Morris (Book, Original Story and Screenplay) wrote the popular feature film Thoroughly Modern Millie, which won seven Motion Picture Academy (Oscar) nominations and the prestigious Writers Guild of America Award for the Best American Musical. Prior to his death, he (and his collaborator, Dick Scanlan) completed the initial stage adaptation of Thoroughly Modern Millie, which went on to win the 2002 Antoinette Perry (Tony) Award and Drama Desk Award for "Best Musical." Additionally, Mr. Morris was nominated for the Tony Award (Best Book), and for the Drama Desk Award (Best Book) for Thoroughly Modern Millie. Earlier Broadway honor came to Mr. Morris with the most memorable and acclaimed The Unsinkable Molly Brown (Book). Television Academy (Emmy) nominated, Morris made extensive contributions to the television world, both as a writer and director. Richard Henry Morris enjoyed a wonderfully successful career in motion pictures, television and the theater.
James Fouchard (Scenic Designer) has created sets for over 250 productions in regional, stock, opera and educational theater. Previous design credits include the national tours of Can-Can (starring Chita Rivera), Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor® Dreamcoat (starring Patrick Cassidy), The Show-Off (starring Jean Stapleton), Jolson: The Musical (American premiere), Little Shop of Horrors, Phantom, South Pacific, Grease!, Oklahoma!, The Sound of Music, Singin' In The Rain and the Charleston Production of Porgy and Bess. He also has served as scenic supervisor for tours of Will Rogers Follies and Smokey Joe's Cafe. Other designs include productions for the John F. Kennedy Center, Pittsburgh CLO, The American Musical Theater, Ford's Theater, Syracuse Stage, PaperMill Playhouse, Walnut Street Theater, Peabody Conservatory, Feld Entertainment, Olney Theatre, Summer Opera Theater, OperaDelaware, Totem Pole Playhouse, Harrahs (Atlantic City and Lake Tahoe) and 42nd Street (Seoul, Korea).
Hugh Hallinan (Lighting Designer) was born into a theatrical family in Dublin Ireland. He and his family run the Downtown Cabaret Theatre in Bridgeport, CT. Over the last 20 years he has lit over 200 productions. The Connecticut Critics Circle have nominated Hugh for best lighting design ten times over the last eight years, and has won the award twice. Meanwhile on the road, Hugh enjoys his time with Troika, which started with Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat in 1997. Thoroughly Modern Millie will mark his seventh production with them. Duncan Robert Edwards (Sound Design) has worked in sound design for the past 25 years and has designed a significant amount of theater, television, special event and installation audio systems in venues of all shapes and sizes, on land or sea everywhere in the world. When not traveling to the far reaches of the planet, Duncan is sailing or working his farm in Connecticut with his wife Patricia and their children Francesca and Lucas as well as their horses Scarlet, Valiente, Monty and Keliade.
Doug Oberhamer (Musical Director) has been involved in musical theater for over 20 years. He has performed in and/or musical directed many Broadway, Off-Broadway, regional productions and international tours including Swing!, Flight of the Lawnchair Man, Crazy for You, Saturday Night Fever, Hello Dolly, The Sound of Music, Women on the Verge, The Apple Tree, Annie, Rings and No No Nanette. He can be heard featured on the Sony Classics Grammy nominated recording of Swing! (original Broadway cast recording) as well as MCARecords Vanessa Daou "Slow to Burn." It is great to be collaborating once again with Joey McKneely, and is happy to be musical directing Thoroughly Modern Millie with this outstanding cast.

J. Jason Daunter (Production Stage Manager) is thrilled to be on the 2005-06 national tour of Thoroughly Modern Millie. A St. Louis native, he has served on the management team of such companies as Stages St. Louis, Millbrook Playhouse, Naples Dinner Theatre, and last years national tour of A Christmas Carol presented by Nebraska Theatre Caravan. He is a graduate of Northwest Missouri State University and plans to make New York home following this tour. James Milburn (Production Manager) specializes in the design and project management of technical systems for the theatrical, architectural, corporate event and exposition market places. As a former production manager for Livent, Inc., James welcomed the opportunity to follow Mr. Buck to Troika in 2000. He has worked throughout North America, in England, Germany, Japan and Russia on projects including EXPO 2000, Fosse on Broadway, America's Smithsonian, The International Auto Show, Vancouver Television, Sega City at Playdium, APEC events, London's Covent Garden and both Canada's and England's Stratford Festivals. James and his wife Jennifer Jones are adjusting to a blissful life in suburbia.
The producers are in their third decade of producing touring shows of all sizes throughout North America and the world. Productions include: Smokey Joe's Cafe, Starlight Express, Will Rogers Follies, Grease!, 42nd Street and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Venues include: The United States, Canada, Brazil, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Korea and Japan. Located in Washington, D.C., and well outside the New York mainstream, the company prides itself on thinking "outside the apple."
Nicholas Howey (Executive Producer and Troika Entertainment's CEO) has a Ph.D. in theatre from Wayne State University. He studied repertory theatre in Prague and with Kary Walker co-founded the Harlequin Theatre outside Washington, DC, which enjoyed a 20 year run. Nicholas and the late Larry Shue were subjects of the play Wenceslas Square written by Shue, directed by Jerry Zaks and produced at The New York Shakespeare Theatre. Together with Kenneth Gentry and Dallett Norris, Nicholas founded Troika Entertainment which tours Broadway shows throughout the world. He is happily married to actress Mary Ellen Nester, the father of two grown kids "in the biz" and of young master Florin; who reminds him daily that life and the theatre are "as good as it gets."
Donald Kindl (Chief Financial Officer) graduated from the University of Connecticut with a bachelor of science degree in accounting in 1982 and again in 1988 with his masters in business administration. He began his career with combustion engineering in Windsor, CT in 1982, and moved to Maryland in 1992 to assume the position of comptroller with Troika. In his current position he oversees the daily operations of all aspects of management information systems, finance and accounting. Mr. Kindl and his lovely wife, Cindy, are the proud parents of three wonderful children: Stephen, Stacey and Scott.
Randall Buck (Chief Operating Officer) rejoined the Troika team in 1999 after completing his responsibilities as vice president and general manager for Livent, Inc. in Toronto. While working for Livent Mr. Buck managed productions such as Fosse, Ragtime, Show Boat, Music of the Night and Kiss of the Spiderwoman. Mr. Buck has supervised productions on Broadway and around the world for over 20 years in varying capacities. Credits include Show Boat, Phantom of the Opera, Siegfried & Roy World Tour and Legends! starring Mary Martin and Carol Channing to mention just a few. Since beginning as an apprentice with The Kenley Players in the late ‘60s Randy has had the privilege of working with directors such as Hal Prince, Joe Layton and Josh Logan as well as hundreds of stars. Randy is currently living happily-ever-after in southern Maryland with his wife Angela and their daughter Sierra Ashley Buck.
Jennifer Howey (Associate Executive Producer) is proud to be working in the family biz beside her father Nicholas and brother Christopher. A graduate of Madonna University in Livonia, MI, Jennifer attended graduate school at The University of Detroit-Mercy and studied advertising and marketing at Oxford University. In the capacity of press rep Jennifer has worked with Michael Bolton, Barry Williams, Patrick Cassidy and Gladys Knight to name just a few. Previous positions include brand manager for Feld Entertainment and producing associate for Starlight Vegas Company. Jennifer is very proud to be the mother of Nicholas Anndrej Joseph Howey.
