Mark Bramble (Original Director/Co-Author) was nominated for a 2001 Tony Award for his work on 42nd Street. He began his theatrical career working for David Merrick. He directed 42nd Street in London, Tokyo, Sydney and Amsterdam and is the author of Barnum (Tony Award nomination for Best Book and Best Musical; Outer Critics Circle Award for Best Musical) and The Three Musketeers and co-author (with Michael Stewart) of The Grand Tour, Treasure Island, Elizabeth & Essex and 42nd Street (Tony Award Best Musical, Laurence Olivier Award for Musical of the Year, etc.). He directed the rock and roll extravaganza Fat Pig for the Leicester Haymarket Theatre in England; Notre Dame, based on Victor Hugo's novel, at Sadler's Wells in London; and created the radio musical In With the Old for the BBC. He is a member of the Society of Stage Directors and Choreographers, Association of Theatrical Press Agents and Managers and the Dramatists Guild. Randy Skinner (Choreographer) received Astaire, Drama Desk, Outer Critics Circle and Tony Award nominations for his work on 42nd Street. He also choreographed the opening number for the 2001 Tony Award telecast. Other productions include State Fair (Outer Critics nomination), Ain't Broadway Grand (Tony, Outer Critics nominations), Puttin' on the Ritz (Kennedy Center), Abby's Song (City Center), Gotta Dance! (City Center), Do Re Mi (City Center Encores), On the 5th (Takarazuka Revue Company, Japan), Lone Star Love (Great Lakes Shakespeare). He has received the Los Angeles Drama Critics Award, LA Dramalogue Award, Connecticut Critics Circle Award, and Cleveland Times Theatre Award.
Valerie Gardner Rives (Director) is the Associate Director of the current Broadway revival of 42nd Street and of the first national tour. Ms. Rives began her connection with this classic musical as an Assistant Stage Manager of the 1993 national tour. Prior to that she had over twenty years of experience as an Actor and a Stage Manager. A few favorite roles include the title role in Sister Mary Ignatius Explains it All for You, Lady Bracknell in The Importance of Being Ernest, the Nurse in Romeo and Juliet, the deeply disturbed Nellie in Nellie Toole & Co., and Mama Bird in a Russian adaptation of Little Red Riding Hood. Ms. Rives has over thirty Stage Management credits. Some of the highlights have been working with Mark Bramble on the musical Fat Pig, with Edward Albee on Sand, three of his one acts and with Roslyn Kind on one of her concerts.
Rick Conant (Choreography Recreation) has performed on Broadway in several hit shows: A Chorus Line, 42nd Street, and Singin' in the Rain. He has been involved with 42nd Street for over 15 years, having performed in the original production in the 1980s. He supervised the European tour of 42nd Street which had a seven-year run throughout major European cities. As a choreographer he has also provided staging for such shows as Sweet Charity, My Fair Lady, Guys and Dolls, and Babes In Arms. In recent years, Rick has become a nationally recognized folk artist, having been featured in several books and magazines. He recently appeared on the Martha Stewart Living television program where he displayed his hand-crafted Halloween lanterns and bandboxes. He is delighted to be collaborating with his long-time friend Randy Skinner on this production of 42nd Street, having worked together previously on the Moscow and Stuttgart productions, as well as Lucky in the Rain for the Goodspeed Opera House.
Michael Stewart (Co-Author) scored on Broadway the first time out when he won a Tony for his Bye Bye Birdie libretto. Subsequently he was the librettist for Carnival, for which he won the Drama Critics Circle Award, and Hello, Dolly!, which won him both the Tony and the Drama Critics prize. He also wrote the books for George M!, Mack and Mabel and The Grand Tour, both book and lyrics for I Love My Wife, and lyrics for Barnum. Mr. Stewart died in 1987.
Harry Warren and Al Dubin (Composer and Lyricist) were legendary tunesmiths both as a team and as individuals. Between the two, their prodigious careers spanned six decades. They wrote Broadway shows and revues and were pioneer songwriters for sound pictures. Their combined output of songs can only be described as astonishing. Al Dubin, born in Switzerland in 1891, died in New York in 1945. Harry Warren was born in Brooklyn in 1893 and passed away in 1981. His first hit song was written in 1922, and he scored his last movie in 1962. His other collaborators included Ira Gershwin, Billy Rose, Joe Young, Gus Kahn, Arthur Freed, Johnny Mercer, Mack Gordon, Mort Dixon, Bud Green and Ralph Blane.
Gower Champion (Director and Choreographer of original 42nd Street) was awarded the Tony Award for Best Choreography for 42nd Street and also won the Drama Desk Award in the same category. His name is synonymous with some of the greatest musicals in Broadway history. He was the director and choreographer for Lend an Ear, Bye Bye Birdie (for which he won Tony Awards as Director and Choreographer), Carnival (Tony nomination for Direction), Hello, Dolly! (two more Tony Awards for Direction and Choreography), I Do! I Do!, The Happy Time (two more Tony Awards), Sugar, Irene and Mack & Mabel. He died in 1980.
Douglas W. Schmidt (Scenic Designer) Since his sensational acting debut as the Third Billy Goat in Billy Goats Gruff in 1949, Mr. Schmidt has made the theatre his profession. Audiences have seen his design work on Broadway and off, in regional theatres, American and international opera houses, arenas and theme parks and on television and film. From the original record-breaking Broadway production of Grease! to the legendary production of Frankenstein that closed on opening night at the Palace, he has created designs for over 200 productions in the past 40 years.
Roger Kirk (Costume Design) Musical theatre costume design includes The White Devil (Australia), Jesus Christ Superstar (UK, NY), Whistle Down the Wind (UK), The Boy From Oz (Australia), The King and I (Australia and NY, for which he won a Tony Award), South Pacific, West Side Story, Chicago, Aspects of Love (international tour) and Anything Goes. Theatre includes costume design for Macbeth and set and costume design for Born Yesterday. Opera includes set and costume design for The Magic Flute, Iolanthe, The Pirates of Penzance, Don Pasquale, The Marriage of Figaro and Manon Lescaut. Film/television includes “Blood Oath” and “Rebel,” for which he won Australian Film Institute Awards, the Elton John Special and “Melba.”

Lucas J. Corrubia (Sound Design) Lucas, better known on Broadway as “Rico”, has toured the US and internationally with such acts as Liza Minelli, Frank Sinatra, Michael Crawford and Bernadette Peters. Some of his Broadway credits include mixing The Who's Tommy, Bring in ‘da Noise Bring in ‘da Funk, and most recently the revival of 42nd Street. In addition to several film projects, his most recent sound designs include the International touring production of Burn the Floor, and Big League Theatrical's road tours of Footloose and Meredith Willson's The Music Man.
David H. Lawrence (Hair Designer) Having worked on Broadway productions for many years, David has had the pleasure of working with the best casts and crews and fellow designers on Broadway. This production of 42nd Street is no exception. My thanks to all who work so hard backstage every night. Thanks Paul and Bob.
Michael Brennan (Musical Supervisor) This is Michael's second production for Big League, having conducted Footloose at the Rio Hotel in Las Vegas. Currently, Michael serves as associate conductor for the smash hit musical Mamma Mia! at the Mandalay Bay hotel in Las Vegas. Other credits include The Lion King, Cinderella, and Victor/Victoria.
Donald Johnston (Musical Adaptation and Arrangements/Additional Orchestrations) arranged dance music for the original production of 42nd Street and conducted its last two years on Broadway. Highlights since include arranging/conducting numerous Broadway and other shows, touring and recording as a jazz pianist/arranger, orchestrating CD recordings including the award-winning “The Night of the Hunter”, and at the time of his death in 2002, creating the orchestrations and arrangements for two new musicals, as well as composing the music for four songs for one of them.
Philip J. Lang (Original Orchestrations) In a Broadway career spanning four decades, Lang orchestrated dozens of musicals including High Button Shoes; Where's Charley?; Fanny; L'il Abner; Carnival; Hello, Dolly!; Mame; Applause; and Annie. He collaborated on the arrangements for My Fair Lady and Camelot. Lang also wrote numerous works for band, orchestra and chorus.
Rob Bissinger (Associate Set Designer) Broadway credits include: Funny Girl benefit concert for the Actor's Fund. Broadway credits as an associate designer include: Jackie: An American Life, Arthur Miller's A View From the Bridge, the 1999 revival of You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown, Dance of the Vampires for designer David Gallo, as well as 42nd Street for designer Douglas W. Schmidt. Off-Broadway design credits include: Rhapsody in Seth at The Actor's Playhouse, Melancholy Baby at Arts Nova, Strictly Personal at SoHo Playhouse, Gabrielle Lansner's Crush, and Holocaust Stories, George F. Walker's Theatre of the Film Noir, the Mosaic Theatre Company's The Stumbling Tongue, and Edward Albee's The Zoo Story. Mr. Bissinger has also worked on many national tours, and has designed Scooby Doo in Stagefright for Clear Channel Family Entertainment.
Daniel Sher (Executive Producer) After spending the early part of his career touring in the worlds of opera, music and dance, Mr. Sher came to Big League Theatricals in 1995 as the General Manager/Associate Producer for The Who's Tommy, Five Guys Named Moe and A Grand Night for Singing. In 1997, he took over the position of Executive Producer and is proud to have produced Big League's critically acclaimed tours of How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, The King and I, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, 1776, Footloose, Peter Pan, Titanic and Meredith Willson's The Music Man as newly conceived by Susan Stroman. He is currently the Executive Producer of the North American tours of 42nd Street and Miss Saigon in addition to the European tour of The Who's Tommy.
